HIGH SCHOOL: Kate Martin attended Edwardsville High School and lived in or near Edwardsville, Illinois. She was a three-year starter in basketball, scoring over 1,000 points. She earned first-team All-State her senior season and second-team All-State and all-Southwestern Conference honors her junior season. She helped lead her team to a runner-up State Tournament finish in 2017 and a semifinal appearance in 2018, while averaging 16.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.88 assists and 2.13 steals in her senior year. She also lettered in volleyball. She grew up wanting to play for Iowa, and was signed in 2018 with the Hawks.

COLLEGE: After redshirting her freshman season, she played in 24 games in the 2019-2020 season, twice scoring 8 points in a game, and pulling down 7 rebounds in the Puerto Rico Clasico.

In 2020-21, she played in all 30 games, and scored a career best 19 points against Penn State with a personal best five for five on 3-pointers. She was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team, and was a team captain.

In 2021-22, she started all 32 games, scoring a season-high 15 points against Northwestern, going 5-for-5 from the field. She also set a career high 11 rebounds against Nebraska. She also had a career high 8 assists in the Big Ten Championship game vs Indiana. She earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and was named to Iowa’s Dean’s List.

In 2022-23, she started all 38 games. She set a career-high 20 points against UConn going 6-for-6 on 3-pointers, and set a career-high 13 assists vs Dartmouth.

In 2023-24, she scored a career-high 25 points, shooting 10-of-12 from the floor against Drake. She had a career high in rebounds with 16 against Penn State. She earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media. She is the 43rd Hawkeye in program history to eclipse 1,000-career points and the 32nd Iowa women’s basketball player to notch 500 career rebounds, and the 10th player in Iowa WBB history to notch 400 assists in a career.

She earned Iowa’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award three times (2021, 2022, 2023).

PROFESSIONAL: She was drafted in the 2nd Round of the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces.
