Cindy Haugejorde attended New London High School and lived in New London, Minnesota.

COLLEGE: After her first season, she transferred to Old Dominion in the fall of 1977, then transferred right away back to Iowa a few weeks later, but lost her scholarship.

She led the Hawks in scoring and rebounds all four years, held eleven Iowa records, and held career record for points (2059) and rebounds (1067). She was a District V All-American and Wade Trophy Finalist in 1980. She was the Northern Lights Invitational (later named Great Alaska Shootout) tournament MVP in 1980, leading the Hawks to the championship.

She was a starter on the US Junior Pan American Gold Medal Team in 1977 and Senior Select Team in 1978, and was a member of the US Olympic Trials team in 1980 (Moscow boycott).

PROFESSIONAL: She was then drafted as the 6th overall pick of the Women’s Basketball League in 1980 and was voted an All-Pro and All-Star while playing for the San Franciscan Pioneers. She also played two years in the Italian League.

OTHER: She was elected into the UI Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
