HIGH SCHOOL: Owen Freeman attended Moline High School and lived in or near Moline, Illinois. He earned Associated Press All-State and Western Big 6 honors as a senior after averaging 18 points and nine rebounds per game, and helped Moline to an unbeaten run to a WB6 outright title and a state championship. He transferred from Bradley-Bourbonnais High School to Moline High School for his senior season, where he was Bradley Bourbonnais' record holder in highest field goal percentage in a season (.682), and was named Red Division Player of the Year, first-team all-state, all-area, and all-conference as a junior, along with the Daily Journal Player of the Year. He was the No. 20 ranked power forward nationally according to Rivals.

COLLEGE: As a freshman, he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year, which is only the second Hawkeye in program history and first in 30 years. He played in all 34 games with 25 starts and averaged 10.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.2 assists in 23 minutes per game. He shot 61.4 percent (145-of-236) from the floor and 66.1 percent (72-of-109) from the free throw line and scored in double figures in 18 games.

His sophomore season was cut short after 19 games due to a hand injury. He averaged 66% shooting from the field, 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game and 1.8 blocks per game.

After the season, he entered the portal and transferred to Creighton.
