Michelle Edwards attended Cathedral High School and lived in Boston, Massachusetts.

COLLEGE: She amassed a career record of 102-22 from 1984-88, and led the Hawkeyes to three NCAA Tournament appearances and two Big Ten titles. In 1988, she was named the Champion Products National Player of the Year, the highest honor in women's collegiate basketball. She garnered several other honors that year including being named a Kodak All-American, a Naismith All-American, a USBWA All-American, the Big Ten Player of the Year, and the University of Iowa Athlete of the Year. She led Iowa to its first ever national No. 1 ranking, along with a record of 29-2 overall and 17-1 record in the Big Ten.

She was the leading scorer in her sophomore, junior and senior years, scoring a total of 1821 points. She has the third highest scoring total among all Iowa players, and her 235 steals is also third best. She had 431 career assists, which is the second best in school history at the time.

The three-time first-team All-Big Ten selection was the first Hawkeye to have her jersey retired (No. 30).

PROFESSIONAL: She was a member of the United States women's national basketball team, that claimed the bronze medal at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. She played professionally in Italy for nine seasons before being drafted in the WNBA during its inaugural year in 1997. She then spent three seasons with the Cleveland Rockers and two seasons with the Seattle Storm.

OTHER: She was inducted into the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2014, she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
