Even Brauns attended West High School and lived in Iowa City, Iowa. He was a 4-year letterwinner, and ranked No. 2 prospect in the state of Iowa Class of 2020 by ESPN.com and 247Sports. He was named All-State and Cedar Rapids Gazette All-Area basketball team in 2020, and was a McDonald’s All-America nominee. He helped lead team to a 22-3 record as a senior averaging 15.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as a senior.

At Belmont, he started 29 of 30 contests in 2021 and averaged 7.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and a team-best 1.4 blocks while shooting a team-best 58 percent from the floor.

In 2022, he played in 31 games, and scored a career-high 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals versus Bethel.

He transferred to Iowa for the 2023-24 season for his final two seasons of eligibility.
