Marcella Benson     Illinois 

Marcella Benson attended Chicago High School and lived in Chicago, Illinois.

COLLEGE: She played basketball and fencing at Iowa, but excelled at Field Hockey, eventually becoming a co-captain. She became the first Black woman to letter in a varsity sport at Iowa. She lettered in softball in 1974-1977 and field hockey in 1975 and 1976. For a while she also played basketball, but transitioned into a team manager role as the team started recruiting more basketball specific players.
