HIGH SCHOOL: Ricky Stanzi attended Lake Catholic High School and lived in or near Mentor, Ohio. He was the 2005 Ohio Division III Offensive Player of the Year and named Offensive Player of the Year by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Lake County News Herald and Cleveland Touchdown Club. He was named first team all-state, all-district, all-county and all-conference and team MVP, and first team all-conference as a junior. He was the MVP of the Ohio North vs. South all-star game. Over his prep career, he threw for 2,400 yards and 21 touchdowns, and rushed for 675 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior with 62% completion. He threw for 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns, along with rushing for 630 yards and six touchdowns as a junior. He was a three-year letterman in football and four-year letterman in basketball. He was rated as a 3-star quarterback recruit.

COLLEGE: He posted a record of 26-9 (74%) as starting quarterback, and posted a 6-3 record against ranked opponents, including a 3-0 mark against top-5 opponents in his career. He took over as starter at Iowa as a sophomore beginning in the 2008 season. He completed 150 passes for 1,956 yards with 14 TDs.

During his junior season, he was injured against Northwestern and the #4 Hawks ended up losing the game and their undefeated record (9-0 going into that game). He returned at the conclusion of the season to lead Iowa to an Orange Bowl victory over Georgia Tech. He ended up passing for 2,417 yards and 17 touchdowns in his junior season.

After his senior season, he was a finalist for The 2010 Premier Player of College Football Trophy which is awarded based on fan votes. At Iowa, he finished with 7,377 yards and 56 touchdowns.

PROFESSIONAL: He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He has bounced around a few NFL teams, and last played in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders.
