Cyrus Tate        

Cyrus Tate attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School and lived in Flossmoor, Illinois. In high school, he was named to Illinois Basketball Association (IBCA) and City Suburban all-star teams, and all-state honors as a senior. He earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior in the SICA East Conference, and was named one of top five post players in state of Illinois as a senior in 2004.

He attended Northeast Community College for one season, and was named junior college all-American while earning all-region and all-conference recognition. He averaged 19.6 points and 11 rebounds per game, shooting 60.4% from the field and recorded 36 blocked shots in 31 games.

In 2008, he was named recipient of the Chris Street Award. He was named one of two captains for the 2008-09 season.
