HIGH SCHOOL: Pat Angerer attended Bettendorf High School and lived in or near Bettendorf, Iowa. As a linebacker, he recorded career totals of 344 tackles, including 63 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles, four recovered fumbles and one interception. He held school records for tackles in a game (25), season (197) and career (344), earning first team all-state and first team all-conference honors as a junior and senior. He earned three letters in football, two in wrestling and soccer and one in track and field, and helped his team to the 2004 state soccer championship.

He was considered a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, and was the No. 26 inside linebacker prospect in the nation. He chose the Iowa over Iowa State, Indiana and Northern Illinois.

COLLEGE: After redshirting for the 2005 season, he spent two seasons as a backup linebacker before starting his 3rd season. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2008, leading the team with 107 tackles during a season, and he was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following a victory over Wisconsin.

During his senior year in 2009, he led the Big Ten in tackles, averaging 12.8 stops per contest in league games. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection, and earned first-team All-America honors by the Football Writers Association of America and Phil Steele's College Football, while being a second-team All-American by Walter Camp and the Associated Press. He was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award and was a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award.

He compiled 258 tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and six interceptions in his career.

PROFESSIONAL: He was selected in the 2nd round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He played four seasons, where he accumulated 328 career tackles, 2.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and two interceptions. He was named to PFWA and The Sporting News All-Rookie teams in 2010, was a member of two playoff teams (2010, 2012) during his NFL career.

OTHER: In June 2024, he was announced as the replacement for Ed Podolak as Iowa football color analyst alongside Gary Dolphin.
