Jeff Jenkins attended Prairie Ridge High School and lived in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He was a three-time Northwest Herald All-Area first-team selection as an offensive lineman, and was named all-state as a senior. He was on the Class 6A state championship teams in 2016 and 2017.

After redshirting in 2018, he was a backup center in 2019, and played in two games and traveled with the team to every game.
