Faith Ekakitie attended Academy High School and lived in Lake Forest, Illinois. He was named First team all-state as a senior by both the Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Tribune. He grew up in Brampton, Ontario in Canada.

He saw limited action in his first two seasons, but played in every game during his junior and senior season. He had his best season in 2016, starting 3 games, and recorded 21 solo tackles and 18 assists, with two tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and two QB pressures.

After Iowa, he was drafted first overall in the 2017 CFL Draft by the Blue Bombers.
