HIGH SCHOOL: Brandon Scherff attended Denison-Schleswig High School and lived in or near Denison, Iowa. He was a two-way lineman, earning first team all-state honors on offense as a senior after earning second team all-state on defense as a junior. As a sophomore, he played quarterback, passing for 1,200 yards on the season. He chose his Iowa over offers from Kansas State, Missouri, and Nebraska.

COLLEGE: He missed part of his sophomore season due to injury. He had a strong junior season, and was a top NFL prospect, but decided to return for his senior season. In 2014, he was named the Outland Trophy winner, and was a unanimous first team All-American. He was also named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, and was first team All-Big Ten for the second year in a row. Overall, he started all 26 games over final two seasons at left tackle and had 36 career starts.

PROFESSIONAL: The Washington Redskins selected him in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was an All-Pro selection and played in five Pro Bowls (2016, 2017,2019, 2020, 2021). He played in Washington from 2015-21, then played for Jacksonville from 2022 through last season.

OTHER: He was elected into the UI Hall of Fame in 2025.
