Grant Steen      Iowa LinkedIn

Grant Steen attended Emmetsburg High School and lived in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He joined the Hawkeyes as a walk-on in 1999. After redshirting, he gained significant playing time in 2000. He started every game at linebacker in the 2001 and 2002 season, and started 11 out of 13 games in 2003. He intercepted three passes in a 2002 victory against Indiana, setting an Iowa record and tying an NCAA record for most picks in a game by a linebacker.

After Iowa, he signed with the New England Patriots in 2004, but was released after training camp. He spent a season with the Frankfurt Galaxy of the now-defunct NFL Europe. He also spent a year in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes, and ended his playing career with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League.

He has been a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Hawai'i, USC, University of Washington and the Seattle Seahawks.

Born 10/22/1980 and is 43 years old.

Joined as walk-on (non-scholarship)  All Conference: 2nd Team (2002)
