Bob Smith      Oklahoma Wikipedia 

Bob Smith attended Will Rogers High School and lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to Iowa, he played college football at the University of Tulsa (1943 and 1945), and Iowa Pre-Flight (1944). He joined the Hawkeyes for the 1946 and 1947 seasons.

After Iowa, he was selected by the Washington Redskins in the 24th round (217th overall pick) of the 1947 NFL Draft. He played professionally as a defensive back, halfback and punter for numerous teams from 1948 to 1954, earning Pro Bowl honors with the Detroit Lions in 1952, and was a member of the 1952 and 1953 NFL championship teams.

On Thanksgiving Day 1949, he set an NFL record with a 102-yard return, which remains the Lions record for longest interception return. He averaged 44.7 yards per punt in 1952, which was second best in the league.

Born 8/20/1925 and died on 3/1/2002 at the age of 76.
