Martin Sampson     

COLLEGE: He graduated from Cincinnati, and came to Iowa as an English instructor. He helped organize the first S.U.I (State University of Iowa) football team in 1889, and thus became the unofficial coach and captain.

In 1890, he scored Iowa's first touchdown in school history against Grinnell (called Iowa College) on a blocked kick.
