HIGH SCHOOL: Jason Baker attended Wayne High School and lived in or near Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was second team all-conference honors as a senior, averaging 39 yards per punt for his career, and kicked a 42 yard FG. He earned three letters in football, playing wide receiver in addition to kicking duties.

COLLEGE: He started all four seasons for Iowa, and left as the Hawkeyes' all-time leader in punts and punting yards, with 272 punts for 11,304 yards. He was named special teams MVP of the 1997 Sun Bowl for his performance in Iowa's loss, averaging 48.9 yards per punt on 8 punts, with a long of 76 yards. He also made honorable mention All-Big 10 honors as a senior in 2000.

PROFESSIONAL: He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2001, and also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and Carolina Panthers. The Panthers rewarded him with a contract making him the highest paid punter in the NFL prior to the 2007 season. As of 2017's NFL off-season, Jason Baker still held at least three Panthers franchise records, including most career punts (570), most in a playoff game (7), and career punt yards (25,064).
