Erwin Prasse      Illinois Wikipedia

Erwin Prasse attended Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, Illinois. During his senior season, he set an Iowa Stadium record by catching three touchdown passes in a 32–29 victory against Indiana from Nile Kinnick. He was one of the "Ironmen" because he played all 60 minutes of each of Iowa's last five games that season.

He was named second-team All-American by United Press International. He was twice named team captain, and was named first team all-Big Ten in both seasons (1938 and 1939). He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 1940 NFL Draft (11th round, 96th overall) but never ended up playing in the league.

While at Iowa, he also earned three varsity letters from 1938-1940. After Iowa, he later played basketball for the Oshkosh All-Stars in the National Basketball League (NBL), winning two league championships in 1941 and 1942, and played minor league baseball for two years within the St. Louis Cardinals' farm system.

Born 12/1/1917 and died on 6/18/2005 at the age of 87.
