Mike Stoops        

Mike Stoops attended Cardinal Mooney High School and lived in Youngstown, Ohio.

COLLEGE: He was a three-year letter winner at strong safety, and was a two-time first team all-Big Ten Conference selection in 1983 and 1984. He played in the 1985 Japan Bowl.

PROFESSIONAL: He signed with the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons, but didn't make the team. He was part of the original Arena Football League (AFL) and played for the Pittsburgh Gladiators. He was named Second Team All-Arena in 1987. He joined the Iowa football staff as an assistant in 1987, but left briefly that season to play three games for the Chicago Bears during the NFL strike.

OTHER: He was the head football coach at Arizona from 2004–2011, and has held numerous assistant coach jobs.

He is the brother of Bob Stoops and Mark Stoops.
