Bruce Nelson

Year signed with Iowa: 1998

Bruce Nelson attended Emmetsburg High School and lived in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Earned first team all-state honors as a tight end as a senior, and was first team all-state as a defensive lineman as a junior, and named first team all-conference for three straight seasons.

He was 1st team All-American and 1st team All-Big Ten in his senior season in 2002, and was named 1st team All-Big Ten in 2001. He started all 48 games throughout his four seasons, ranking 3rd best in the nation for consecutive starts by an offensive lineman (he played guard, tackle and center).

He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft.
