CJ Fredrick      Ohio Hawkeye Sports Profile 

CJ Fredrick attended Covington High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was named the 2018 Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year after leading his school to a state championship and a 35-4 record as a senior, scoring 111 points (27.8 points), including two 32-point outbursts, while shooting 63 percent from the field. He set single-season school records for points (900), field goals made in a season (315), and 3-pointers made (107). He finished 4th in career points (1,651) in school history. He was named to the 2016 and 2017 All-Conference Division 1 All-Star Team and the 2016 and 2017 Northern Kentucky Coaches Association All-Star Team. He was also the 2017 Adidas AAU No. 1 Class of 2018 Top 3-Point Percentage Shooter (.506). He agreed to walk-on at Iowa for his first season until a scholarship opened up.

At Iowa, he redshirted his first season, then played most of the 2019-2020 season, missing 6 games due to injuries. He was voted to the Las Vegas Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 13 points per game on 60 percent shooting (9-of-15) and 3.5 assists per game. During the season, he shot a Big Ten-best 46.1 percent (47-of-102) from 3-point range, and scored a season-high 21 points three times.

As a sophomore, he was named Honorable Mention all-Big Ten. He missed four full games due to injury, but competed in 27 games. He ranked fourth on the team in points per game (7.5) and 3-pointers made (36). His 47.4% shooting from 3-point range is the second best percentage by a sophomore in program history. He had a 5.2 assist-to-turnover ratio (52 assists, 10 turnovers). He scored a career-high 23 points versus Minnesota, and tied another career-high five 3-pointers.

After the 2020-2021 season, he announced that he would be entering the transfer portal, and signed with Kentucky.
