HIGH SCHOOL: Tom Moore attended Rochester High School and lived in or near Rochester, Minnesota. He spent time as a youth in Iowa, when his family moved to Mount Pleasant and Burlington. They settled in Minnesota starting his sophomore high school year. He earned All-American honors as a quarterback.

COLLEGE: He returned to Iowa for college to play quarterback and kicker, lettering in 1959 and 1960. He connected on five field goals and 40 PATs in two seasons.

PROFESSIONAL: He stayed on for the 1961 and 1962 seasons as a graduate assistant coach. After a two-year stint in the Army, he joined the coaching staff at the University of Dayton. He was an assistant coach in college from 1965 to 1976 with stops at Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Minnesota. Following 13 seasons at the collegiate level and one year in the World Football League, Moore made the jump to the NFL. He joined the professional ranks in 1977 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and has continued for over 40 years as of 2022. He has won 4 Super Bowls, two with Pittsburgh and one with Indianapolis and Tampa Bay.

He rejoined the Iowa football coaching staff for the 2026 season after a 64-year absence.

OTHER: In 2005, Moore was inducted into the Rochester (Minnesota) Sports Hall of Fame and in 2014, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (Western Chapter). In 2015, Moore was honored with the Pro Football Writers of America Paul "Dr. Z" Zimmerman Award for lifetime achievement as assistant coach in the NFL.

Born 11/7/1938 and is 87 years old.
