Lew Montgomery         

Lew Montgomery attended East High School in Waterloo, Iowa. He was twice named first team All-State football running back by the Des Moines Register. He chose Iowa over Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Michigan State.

He lettered all 4 seasons, and served as co-captain during his senior season. He scored 17 career touchdowns, and earned all-Big Ten honorable mention his junior season. He was inducted into the Iowa High School (IHSAA) Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

He has been honored with the Waterloo Key to the City Award. He serves on several boards for multiple non-profit and community organizations, and part of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources. He also serves as a TV sports analyst for KCRG 9.2, KGAN/Fox Sports 28, and co-host on WMT Radio 600 Iowa Hawkeye Huddle post-game radio shows during the fall.

His son Lucas was diagnosed with a rare, life limiting genetic disorder called Sanfilippo Syndrome, and he created a nonprofit organization to raise funds to support research.
