Joe Laws attended Colfax High School and lived in Colfax, Iowa.

COLLEGE: He was named team MVP after the 1932 season. He was named first team all-Big Ten and was the leading scorer in 1933. He earned 2nd team all-American as a QB, and was named the most valuable player of the Big Ten Conference in 1933. He also played baseball and was the leading hitter on the 1933 baseball team

PROFESSIONAL: He signed with the Green Bay Packers in 1934 (no draft back then). He played twelve years with the Packers. He started 58 games, rushed 470 times for 1932 yards and 9 TDs (averaging 4.1 yards per carry). He accounted for 2,973 rushing and receiving yards. He also intercepted 18 passes from 1940 to 1945, and unofficially another 21 in his first six seasons before interceptions were recorded as an official statistic. He was on 3 championship teams, and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1939. He set an NFL postseason record in 1944 by intercepting 3 passes in the Packers' 14-7 victory over the Giants in the league title game.

OTHER: He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1972, and the Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991.

Born 6/16/1911 and died on 8/22/1979 at the age of 68.
