Gary Kostrubala       

Gary Kostrubala attended Marist High School and lived in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He won the 1981 Illinois high school discus and the 1982 shot put and discus titles, and was a junior national runner-up.

He walked-on the football team as a punter and placekicker, and was recruited to throw the discus and shot put in track, and held the school indoor and outdoor records for shot put and discus. He was the first athlete in Big Ten history to throw the discus over 200 feet, and he qualified for the nationals twice.

In football, he punted three seasons, averaging nearly 40 yards per punt (39.9) on 143 punts.
