2025-2026 Iowa Football Year in Review
<< 2024-20252026-2027 >>

Prior to the season, they sold out all seven home contests for the fourth consecutive season. The big acquisition in the offseason was Mark Gronowski, who had tremendous success at South Dakota State. He missed the spring due to an injury, and got steadily better each week during the season.

The Hawkeyes ended the season with a 9-4 overall record, finishing 6th place in the conference (6-3 record). They defetated #14 Vanderbilt 34-27. Iowa lost 4 games by a total of 15 points to opponents all ranked in the top 20 at the time of the game. They were one of the teams closest to defeating the Indiana Hoosiers, losing 20-15 at home. They ended the season ranked #17.

Logan Jones was named First-team All-Big Ten, Unanimous First-team All-American, and awarded the Rimington Trophy. Kaden Wetjen, return specialist, was named First-team All-Big Ten and Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year for the second time, and Consensus First-team All-American. Gronowski tied the single-season Big Ten record for rushing touchdowns by a QB (16) and ended his career with an NCAA record 58 wins as a starter (9 at Iowa). Iowa’s offensive line won the Joe Moore Award (nation’s top offensive line) for a second time in program history.
