#3 Iowa  vs  #1 Gonzaga   Gonzaga

L    88 - 99

Head Coach: Fran McCaffery

Despite a string of recently cancelled games, Gonzaga showed why they were the #1 team and didn't seem sluggish in a convincing win over the Hawks. They pulled ahead by 20 points in the first half, and Iowa could never cut the lead below 10 the rest of the way. 3-point shooting was a factor, as the Hawks ended 4-22 while Gonzaga shot 13-26. They also struggled at the free throw line with 14-26 shooting.

Luka Garza scored 30 points and had 10 rebounds. Joe Wieskamp added 20 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Bohannon hit only 1-8 from the field, and was 0-5 on 3-pointers. Joe Touissant played well, adding 14 points off the bench.

Unfortunately, point guard Jalen Suggs was tough for Iowa to stop. He hit seven 3-pointers and had 27 points, and they were 14-26 from 3-point range on the day, including 10 in the first half to help built the large lead.

#19 Iowa  vs  #25 Wisconsin   Wisconsin

W    28 - 7

Head Coach: Kirk Ferentz

Iowa RB Tyler Goodson rushed for 106 yards, including an 80-yard TD to seal the victory. Ihmir Smith-Marsette caught 7 passes for a career-high 140 yards and two touchdowns, but injured himself on the TD celebration. The Iowa defense was outstanding, limiting the Badgers to just 225 total yards, 56 on the ground, and big plays in critical situations.

Iowa was in control 21-7 in the 4th, but a botched punt gave Wisconsin the ball at the Iowa. Jack Campbell intercepted the ball in the end zone on 4th down, and Goodson ran for a TD on the ensuing drive.

It was the first victory for Iowa over Wisconsin at home since 2008. Iowa finished 2nd in the West Division with the win, their sixth in a row after starting 0-2. They also played all scheduled games without any cancellations, and had very few players miss games due to COVID-19.
