RECAP

Iowa started out with some luck by taking advantage of 2 early UCLA fumbles, converting one of them into a TD. Reserve QB Johnny Estes dumped it off to RB Emlen Tunell, who reversed fields and ran 56-yards for a TD right before the half ended. Estes added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

The Bruins scored a TD on their first two possessions of the second half to take a 13-7 lead, then added a FG and another TD, while controlling the Iowa offense, holding them scoreless. The Hawks defense was unable to stop UCLA, as they rushed for 350 yards. Iowa was able to recover 5 fumbles on the day, but only converted one of them into a score.

It was the first night game played in the Coliseum.
