The game started out back and forth, with the Hawks taking a 6-point lead at 26-20 after 7 minutes. But Nebraska went on a 14-0 run with a series of 3's to take a 34-26 lead. Iowa scored 5 straight points to close the gap before halftime. The Huskers went on a 17-3 run early in the 2nd half, and Iowa was down by 15 points with 15 minutes remaining. Payton Sandfort then took over, scoring all of his 30 points (6 of 10 from 3-point range) after halftime. The game was tied at 64-64 with 5 minutes remaining, and Iowa took a 3-point lead with 5 seconds remaining, but Nebraska hit a game-tying shot at the buzzer to force overtime. The Hawks jumped out to a quick lead, leading 85-76 after 2 minutes of overtime, and held on for the 10-point win.

Josh Dix led all scorers with 31 points, and played a consistent all-around game with 10 of 14 shooting from the field, 7 of 10 from 3-point range, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Owen Freeman scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
