RECAP

Harry Kokolus scored Iowa's only points on a 27-yard FG in the 1st quarter. An early decision to go for it on 4th and 5 in the 1st quarter was unsuccessful, and might have been a turning point to keep the Hawks in the game. The Spartans fumbled the ball 14 times in the rain (a Big Ten record), but managed to recover 11 of them. Iowa fumbled 3 times on the day, but recovered 2 of them. Frank Lauterbur commended Dave Simms, Larry Horton and Ike White for their defensive play. Levi Mitchell rushed for 101 yards and passed Ed Podolak in career rushing yards.
