RECAP

Iowa hung close with the Lions, but big plays were the difference in the game. Iowa got on the board first with a 50-yard FG by Nick Quartaro in the 1st quarter. PSU's first big play was a 75-yard pass to George Barvinchak, who took the ball to the 3-yard line, setting up their first score in the 2nd quarter. Chris Bahr matched Iowa's long FG with a 45-yarder in the 3rd quarter to put Penn State up 17-3, but the Hawks weren't done yet.

Iowa QB Tom McLaughlin scrambled for a 6-yard TD run in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to 17-10. But the Lions responded with a long TD pass to Rich Mauti to end Iowa's hopes.
