RECAP

Michigan scored on it's opening drive after Rick Leach completed a 63 yard touchdown pass in the first 2 minutes of the game. The Iowa defense broke down as Leach scrambled to his left and hit a wide open receiver, who ran the rest of the way to the end zone. The Iowa D held strong but gave up 2 more touchdown passes to Leach in the second and third quarters. The only other points Michigan scored was on a safety in the fourth quarter. The Iowa offense was able to break the shutout with a fourth quarter touchdown of their own on a one yard touchdown run by Tom McClaughlin. McClaughlin finished the day 16-22 passing for 174 yards.
