RECAP

After a big win over the Cyclones last week, the Hawkeyes had a huge letdown against the Wildcats from Arizona. The Hawkeyes lost it's top two tailbacks to injury during the game. Ernie Sheeler separated his shoulder and Dennis Mosley fractured his elbow. Freshman quarterback Bob Commings Jr who had played well so far this season struggled and was benched, going 5 of 14 for 34 yards. Commings was replaced by senior Tom McLaughlin who wasn't much better completing 3 of 9 passes for 35 yards.

The Iowa defense struggled giving up 32 points in the second half and 379 yards for the game.

Arizona kicker, Lee Pistor kicked a 57 yard field goal, to set a stadium record that would stand for 46 years.
