Head Coach: Bob Commings

RECAP

In Iowa's last home game of the year, they picked up the 2nd win of the season, which ended up being Bob Commings last home game as head coach. The Hawkeyes had struggled all season offensively but broke out for over 400 yards of offense today and 38 points on the scoreboard, the most since the 1976 Syracuse game. Iowa fans once again rushed the field and tore down the goal posts in the south end zone, their were still 8 seconds left on the game clock. Iowa took it's opening drive 61 yards and scored a field goal. On the ensuing kick off, the Hawkeyes recovered an unexpected onside kick. A 39 yard pass from Jeff Green to Brad Reid, and a 10 yard end around to Reid, on the next two consecutive plays and the Hawkeyes were up 10-0. Reid finished the day with 96 yards receiving and 90 yards rushing, including an 80 yard touchdown run that broke the game wide open for the a Hawkeyes, who never trailed in the game. The win ended an 8-game winning streak. Bob Commings would be fired on November 27th.
