RECAP

Iowa, who hadn't beaten Purdue since 1960, lost yet again to the Boilermakers. Purdue took a 17-0 lead into the half, before the Hawkeyes came to life, scoring on a 57 yard end around by Brad Reid in the 3rd quarter. Iowa followed that up with an interception by Lou King, and seemed like they were going to make it an interesting ball game, until Scott Schilling missed a 42 yard field goal that would have made it 17-10. Purdue went on to score 17 in the 4th quarter to make the lopsided score. The Hawkeye offense coughed up two fumbles, threw 4 interceptions and had 6 penalties, despite rushing for 205 yards against the best run defense in the Big Ten. Bill Dolan, who started the year as the fourth string quarterback, started his first game today, due to injuries.

The game was televised on national TV.
