RECAP

It was a hard fought back and forth game in the first half, as Michigan State took the lead at half 16-13 aided by 3 Morten Anderson field goals, including a 54-yarder. The ball game turned in Iowa's favor on Michigan State's opening drive of the 2nd half, when the Spartans went for it on a 4th and inches at their own 29 yard line. They were stopped short on a nice play from Iowa's John Harty, who pushed back on the QB sneak by Bryan Clark. The Hawkeyes went on to score 3 consecutive touch downs, racking up a balanced 238 rushing yards and 204 passing yards.

Phil Suess, who started the game was 11-22 on the day with 1 touchdown run. Dennis Mosley finished the day with 136 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Mosley finished the season as the leading rusher in the Big Ten. Reggie Roby came into the game 1 yard behind Michigan State's Ray Stachowicz in punt average, but only had 1 punt on the day into the wind, leaving him 2nd in the Big Ten in punting on the year.

The Iowa fans once again stormed the field and tore down the goal post in the north end zone, security was able to guard the posts from being taken out of the stadium.
