RECAP

Iowa lost to Purdue for the 19th consecutive time today, a streak going back to October 22nd 1960. The Hawkeyes had a chance to take the lead on a promising drive late in the 4th quarter, but were unable to convert on a 4th and 6 from the Purdue 21 yard line. There was some confusion on the route that Brad Reid ran and the pass was incomplete, essentially ending Iowa's hopes to break the losing streak against the Boilermakers. Iowa quarterback Phil Sues was 21 out of 34 passing on the day with 248 yards and no interceptions. Dennis Mosley had 88 yards on 21 carries and passed the 1000 yard mark on the season, the first Iowa back to ever do so.

The game was tied 14-14 at halftime, a crucial play in the 3rd quarter happened when Purdue's Keena Turner blocked an Iowa punt, allowing the Boilermakers to take over on the Iowa 42 yard line. Purdue was able to capitalize 6 plays later, with the only score in the 2nd half on a 19 yard touch down pass.
