Official Game Program

Hayden Fry's first game as Hawkeye head coach. He faced off against Indiana head coach Lee Corso. The Hawks jumped to a 26-3 lead at half behind Dennis Mosley's four touchdowns. But the Hawks let Indiana rally from behind, giving up 20 4th quarter points, including a 66-yard game-winning pass to Lonnie Johnson with only 58 seconds to play. Mosley rushed for 142 yards on 20 carries for the Hawks, and quarterback Phil Suess passed for 227 yards and completed 17 of 30 passes.

"I was surprised with the polish Iowa showed with the new coach and new system," Corso agreed. "It wasn't so much against us - they're good'" - Lee Corso

Hayden Fry It was a perfect first half except for a couple of plays. Then we folded our tent. We didn't play defense and we just didn't execute. We did an about-face after performing so well in the first half. I thought the offense and defense were outstanding in the first half. I guess you felt like you saw two completely different ballgames. It was like a nightmare.
