22,157 fans set a record for single game attendance at a women's basketball game, breaking the old mark of 10,622 (Kentucky vs Old Dominion on 2/5/1983). It also beat the NCAA women's attendance record of 12,336, set on 3/6/1977 at a double-header in New York's Madison Square Garden. The game also shattered the previous Iowa attendance record of 7,130.

In the game, 1st place in the Big Ten was on the line. Iowa jumped to a 10-point lead and led by 6 at halftime, but Ohio State rallied to tie it at 35 after 7 minutes into the 2nd half, and pulled away the rest of the game.

Ohio State's Tracy Hall scored 13 points while Michelle Edwards and Robin Anderson had 10 each for Iowa.
