RECAP

A brilliant passing performance by Chuck Long led the Hawkeyes to a 28-22 Peach Bowl win. Long completed 14 of 17 first half passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Iowa also successfully executed a fake FG that led to their 3rd TD, which gave them a 21-7 lead at the intermission.

Long had 304 yards passing and 465 total offensive yards, both Peach Bowl records. Dave Moritz tied the bowl game record with eight receptions, all in the first half. Nineteen Peach Bowl records were tied or broken. Iowa WR Ronnie Harmon had a pair of TD receptions. The Hawkeye defense came up big with fumble recovery in the first half, a 4th and 1 stop late in the game, and a 4th down sack with under a minute remaining. The Peach Bowl was the first non-Rose Bowl postseason game in school history, and its first bowl win since the 1959 Rose Bowl.
