The Hawks needed to win one of the last 2 games to clinch the West Division, and they were able to wrap up it on Senior Night with another close victory. It is the 3rd time they have won the West Division (2015, 2021 and 2023).

After a nice punt from Tory Taylor (his last home game at Iowa), the Hawkeye defense forced a QB sack and fumble in the end zone for a safety, almost getting a TD.

The Illini countered with a long pass play to set up a long FG, taking a 3-2 lead into the 2nd quarter. The Hawks offense was moving the ball, and a key QB run by Deacon Hill led to a first down run. He later connected with TE Addison Ostrenga for a 4-yard TD pass. Illinois responded with a long TD drive, capped by a short TD run, and a 10-9 halftime lead.

In the 2nd half, the Illini was able to move the ball on the Iowa defense, and stuffed the Iowa offense. However, Kaleb Johnson gave the Hawks the lead with a 30-yard TD run. The PAT was blocked, and Iowa led 15-13 with under 5 minutes to go. The Iowa defense held on 4th and 2, and the Hawks ran out the clock. There was a lot of congratulations given to Brian Ferentz after the game, as he would not be retained as offensive coordinator next year.

They will play for the Big Ten Championship on Dec 2nd in Indianapolis against the winner of next week's Ohio State and Michigan game.
