The Hawkeyes scored a quick 10 points midway in the first half to take an 18-10 lead and never looked back, leading by 9 at halftime. Mike Heitman and Ron Zagar played well defensively, which gave Iowa a spark on offense. Zagar ended with 17 points. The difference was shooting, as Iowa shot 51% from the field, and held the Sooners to 25%. Don Nelson scored 14 points and Nolden Gentry scored 11 points.
