RECAP

Colorado led 14-12, but broke the game open with two fourth-quarter touchdown passes by Koy Detmer (who replaced Kordell Stewart). Detmer threw touchdown passes of 10 yards to Christian Fauria, 31 yards to Michael Westbrook and 74 yards to Charles Johnson. Detmer is the younger brother of 1990 Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer (Iowa tied 13-13 in last year's Holiday Bowl).

The Hawkeyes intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles in the first half, but was only able to get 6 points on two Andy Kreider field goals, and trailed 7-6 at halftime.

The veteran Iowa offensive line struggled against the rush, and gave up 10 QB sacks on the day. Iowa forced 6 turnovers, but could not capitalize on the Colorado miscues.

Colorado finished 9-2-1 on the season and lost to Syracuse in the Fiesta Bowl.

The full game video starts with 13 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, and it cuts off with 1 minute left in the game. Andy Kreider kicked a 32-yard FG to take an early 3-0 lead, which is not shown.
