RECAP

Hurricanes carry an 18-game winning streak into the game. Gino Torretta (Heisman Trophy winner that season) wrote his name into the Kinnick Stadium record books with a 433-yard passing performance for the co-defending National Champions. Miami had to practice all week in Vero Beach because Hurricane Andrew knocked the team out of its facilities, and a collection was made during the game to raise money for those impacted by the disaster.

Iowa QB Jim Hartlieb went 26 of 38 passes for 266 yards, including a 31-yard scoring strike to Harold Jasper with 5:30 remaining in the game. The game was billed as "A Night To Remember" to commemorate the first game under the lights in Kinnick Stadium history.
