RECAP

With a share of the Big Ten title on the line, the five starters played the entire game. The Hawks struggled with shooting in the 1st half, but only trailed by 2. The shooting got hot in the 2nd half, going 16 for 24, but the Gophers held it close until the end. Free-throw shooting proved pivotal. Both teams attempted 30 of them. Iowa made 22, Minnesota 20. The Hawks were able to run out the clock to Bill Logan led Iowa with 25 points, which included 11 free throws in 16 attempts. Carl Cain scored 16, Bill Seaberg 12, Deacon Davis 11 and Sharm Scheuerman added 8 points.
