Iowa built up a 20-point lead at one point (82-62), and ended the night with a 13-point victory. Carl Cain led the Hawks with 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting (78%) and 15 rebounds, and Bill Seaberg added 16 points. Iowa had an excellent shooting night, recording the second best shooting percentage ever in the Big Ten. Their 51.5% average was only 2nd to their previous record of 57.6% against Northwestern in 1953.
