RECAP

The Hawkeyes trailed all of the first half, and well into the second half, until Iowa was able to take the lead. The Hawkeyes were ahead 57-53 with five minutes left in the game. The last five minutes would go back and forth with several lead changes. Iowa's Frank Calsbeek, scored with 16 seconds left in regulation to tie the ball game and send it to overtime. Calsbeek, who led all scorers with 26 points, and Dick Riecks, scored all of Iowa's 9 points in the overtime period to edge out the Ducks.

Oregon shot 27 of 80 from the field, while the Hawkeyes shot 23 of 79 baskets.

Wisconsin played UCLA in the other game of the double-header.

Iowa and Oregon had played two days earlier in Iowa City, where the Hawks had won by 27 points.
