Wisconsin's defense was dominant as the Badgers took a 31-0 win in Kinnick Stadium. It was Iowa's first loss to Wisconsin in Iowa City since 1974. The Hawkeyes defense played well over the first two quarters before the Badgers scored 21 points in the second half. Iowa had just two first downs in the opening half and for the game had only 138 yards of total offense. Field position played a major part in the contest, as Iowa's average field position was its own 17-yard line, while Wisconsin's average starting point was the Iowa 46. Wisconsin's six scoring drives averaged 37.8 yards. Ladell Betts rushed for 50 yards to lead Iowa's ground game, while freshman QB Kyle McCann, in his first action in three weeks, completed six of nine passes. Freshman WR Kahlil Hill led Iowa receivers with five catches for 68 yards. Senior DB Eric Thigpen led the Iowa defense with 20 tackles, including 11 solos. LB Matt Hughes had 14 tackles and DT Jared DeVries and DB Tarig Holman each had 10. DeVries had three of Iowa's four QB sacks.
