Iowa was a #6 seed in the West Region, and outscored the Colonials 25-6 over the final 8 minutes, 21 seconds to earn the victory. Iowa took the lead with less than 2 minutes in the game, and Russ Millard sank 2 clutch free throws with 3 seconds left. The victory improved Davis' record to 9-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, including 7-0 at Iowa.
