The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Michigan State

Okay, so we got a bit more bad and ugly this week, but a lot of good things too.

The Good:

The defense was very good, once again. It’s looking like we might have the best defense in the league. Holding TJ Ducket to 71 yards and a 2.8 ypc was a huge effort. Aaron Kampman was outstanding!

The OL improved greatly from last week’s performance. Both in terms of run and pass blocking, we were much better than last week.

Ladell Betts has the type of effort / game we are use to 79 yards and a 4.4 ypc.

The Bad:

The defense: although overall outstanding, we had some key breakdowns and did not tackle all that well in this game.

Kyle McCann: after 4 straight weeks of being in the “good column”, Kyle McCann took a step backward in this game- he missed several open WRs, threw a number of bad passes and just plain made some bad decisions. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and I expect Kyle to have a HUGE game versus Indiana.

Special Teams: improved from last week, we cannot allow the other team to get an advantage. The KR touchdown and missed FG were the difference, IMHO.

The Penalties: we outdid the most penalized team in the BT 11-63 yards.

The inability to get the ball to Kahlil Hill and Dallas Clark and/or exploit the two inexperienced CBs of MSU.

The Ugly:

Kyle McCann’s two int. to a defensive tackle! I can happen to the best once, but twice?

Two consecutive delay of game penalties- inexcusable!

Our inability to exploit the two inexperienced CBs of MSU.
