RECAP

Iowa kicker Tom Nichol booted a school record 56-yard FG to cut the halftime deficit to 6-3. Down 13-3, Iowa ran a fake FG and holder Tom Grogan passed to Lon Olejniczak for the TD. The Hawks got an interception from Joe Schuster and added another Nichol FG to tie the game. Mike Stoops and Keith Hunter picked off passes in the next two Michigan series but could not convert it into points. Iowa was looking to drive for the winning score late in the 4th quarter, but a fumble by Owen Gill (who rushed for 120 yards on the day) gave Michigan the ball with time to get in FG range.

Michigan kicker Bob Bergeron kicked his 3rd FG of the game, a 45-yard FG with 8 seconds left to give the Wolverines the victory. Another version of the full game can be found at the University of Michigan
